Ghana gave the USA a battle last night at the end of the match (90 min) 30 minutes of extra time was added on the match and Ghana put up an impressive performance scoring a goal in the first half of the extra 30 minutes. Ghana is the third African side ever to reach the quarter-final stage at a World Cup. Thanks to Asamoah Gyan who strike in the goal that lead Ghana 2-1 against USA. Ghana, defeated USA 2-1 in the 2006 World Cup as well.
Ghana's coach Milovan Rajevac's played a 4-2-3-1 system which dominated the opening half to the extent that US midfielder Ricardo Clark was substituted in just 30 minutes. Ghana scored in only 5 minutes of the game.
The US leaves the Fifa 2010 World Cup disappointed, they managed to win their group yet made many mistakes during the match against Ghana like Jay DeMerit who allowed a long kick down field from Richard Kingson to reach Kwadwo Asamoah who made a brilliant low strike that was saved by Howard.
Former US president Bill Clinton was in the stands to show his support for USA. Donovan's equalised the score with a goal that went in off the post. For Africa this was a major celebration as Ghana now will be the only African team going forward on African soil.
