There is a lot of uncertainty and speculation about accommodation demand for the 2010 World Cup.
Here are some facts that will help put it in perspective:
Currently, it is estimated that over 9 Million visitors come to SA per year, this is expected to increase to over 10 Million during 2010. During the month of the 2010 World Cup only 400 000 extra visitors are expected. The effect of the credit crunch is currently unclear, however according to fifa 15 million tickets have been requested from around the globe exceeding the supply.
55 000 rooms are required for officials, teams, vips and media. Fifa has partnered with hotels, guest houses and even some game lodges to meet this demand.
