It has been a while since I posted anything on the blog, as there has been a lot of negative press happening here and I would rather not be negative.
The Fifa World Cup 2010 has huge pontential to benefit South Africa for the long term. Unfortunetly the credit crunch has put a damper on the excitement and I'm sure many fans have had to opt for watching the games on television.
Compounding the allready strained fans pockets comes greedy short sighted South African companies whom have decided to hike thier prices reduciously during the 2010 Fifa World Cup. For example domestic South African airline companies are charging almost 3X the normal price for domestic flights.
Accomodation providers have also decided to cash in on the fans and even though it is offseason (winter here during the worldcup) many are also asking way above the normal rates charged. I'm sure many other greedy corporations in South Africa will try cash in during the 2010 World Cup. There was a house in Clifton that was rented out for R1 million for three weeks! How could anyone agree to pay that much?
Prehaps this has contributed to the over 45 000 beds been cancelled by Fifa? One wonders how many fans have been put off comming to South Africa by rip off prices? My plea to all fans comming to our country do not get ripped off! If you feel you are been overcharged please send in your complaints to expose rip off companies in South Africa.
So much for not been negative!
